James Comley announces Maidenhead United departure

James Comley has been a fixture in the Maidenhead United midfield for almost the entirety of Football in Berkshire’s existence, he’s won the Vanarama National League South title and guided the Magpies to 12th and 13th placed finishes during four season in the top tier of non-league football.

All good things come to end though, as Comley has revealed he will leave York Road this summer.

A Montserrat international – Comley wrote on Twitter: “Big thank you to everyone involved with Maidenhead United my time here has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Played in some great changing rooms in my time at the club and of course winning the National League South. All involved with the club.”

Comley began his career in the youth system with Crystal Palace and played four times in the Football League for the club before moving on to Canvey Island and St Albans City.

The midfielder made 202 appearance’s for Maidenhead, scoring twice, since starting his time at York Road initially on loan from St Albans in February 2016 before joining permanently in the summer.

Comley joins Josh Coley in departing the club this summer, the latter having joined Football League side Exeter City. Maidenhead have though announced a contract extension for manager Alan Devonshire.
