Slough Town have signed Tilehurst-born midfielder Freddie Grant ahead of the 2021/22 Vanarama National League South season.
Grant has signed for the Rebels from division rivals Bath City having previously played for Oxford City, Wealdstone and Maidenhead United after starting his career with Oxford United.
A statement on the Slough Town website says: “He was one that really stood out for us at Wealdstone a couple of years back, where his performances earned him numerous awards and subsequently a move to Maidenhead in the National League.
“He is another great character who is also familiar with a number of our players already, so like our other signings we feel he is a player who can fit in straight away.”
Grant gave an excellent interview to the Non-League Paper at the weekend following his signing in which he talked about how tough the lost season has been as well as his new club’s recruitment policy: “The recruitment policy they’ve [Jon Underwood and Neil Baker] got, they will not sign anyone who thinks they are bigger than the club. They will not sign anyone who is, the term gets used a lot but, ‘big time’.
“They are all about good characters, honest, humble footballers. If anyone turned up demanding money or a position or a certain number, they aren’t about that. They are about hard work and honesty. If you give that to them then they will certainly look after you.
“If you have a club like that, then every couple of years you are going to have success.”
