The fate of the final three out of contract players at Vanarama National League Maidenhead United has been settled.
Ryan Upward, the clubs longest serving player, young midfielder Josh Kelly and left back Rene Steer have all had their immediate futures decided at York Road.
Upward stays for 2020/21. He made 185 starts for United, appearing a further 47 times on the substitutes bench and has notched 22 goals in Magpies colours since arriving from Burnham in the summer of 2014. Meanwhile, Northern Ireland U21 international Josh Kelly has also committed for the season ahead having previously been confirmed as a departure. The 21-year-old graduated through the successful MUFC Academy and has grabbed the headlines over the past two seasons with a number of virtuoso goals.
Moving on however will be 30-year-old left-back Rene Steer. Steer was one of Alan Devonshire’s first signings upon rejoining the Magpies as manager in 2015 and the popular Steer was a National League South and Berks & Bucks Senior Cup winner during his five seasons at York Road. In all, Steer made 176 first teams starts for Maidenhead and was selected on the bench on a further 27 occasions.
Maidenhead have made two new signings as well with George Wells and Dan Sparkes joining the club. More on those here.
