Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division side Ascot United have signed up experienced former Binfield captain James Knight.

Knight played over 190 times for the Moles after joining from Marlow and captained the side to the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup triumph in 2018.

His departure from Binfield was announced on August 17th and now Ascot United have moved quickly to sign up the midfielder.

In reality, Knight has swapped the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division for the top of the Combined Counties League Premier and joins former Moles team mates Ian Davies, Jon Bennett and George Lock at the Racecourse Ground.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Ascot manager Jamie Tompkins said: “We are delighted to sign James for the season.

“It’s a great opportunity to add someone of his quality and experience to our squad and we look forward to seeing him perform on the pitch.”

The Yellamen kick off their 2019/20 FA Vase campaign of Friday night with a home tie against Fleet Town which will be played at Calthorpe Park due to the ongoing ground works at Ascot.
