Ascot United welcome home goal scoring ‘hero’

Bennett left the Yellamen in 2013

Ascot United have confirmed the return of one of their greats with the news that striker Jon Bennett has re-signed at the Racecourse Ground.

Then 28-year-old Bennett left in October 2013 for Southern League Marlow with the parting words: “No doubt I will be back at Ascot at some point.”

Bennett had been with the Yellamen since he was nine years old according to a 2013 interview with the Bracknell News where he scored 128 goals in 191 games for the first team.

Since leaving United, as well as Marlow, Bennett played for Binfield and Bracknell Town and will be joined up front next season by fellow former Mole Ian Davies who was confirmed as joining the Combined Counties League side on Wednesday.
