Full back Rob Gerrard is the latest player to depart Reading City, joining Mitchell Parker in leaving Scours Lane.
Gerrard featured 10 times for City this season scoring once and counts Aldershot Town, the defunct Reading Town, Bracknell Town and Highmoor IBIS amongst his former clubs.
In a post on his new club Basingstoke Town’s website, Gerrard said: “I’m really excited by the opportunity and it’s something I have been working towards. I’ve already trained with the boys this week and the quality of the team is really impressive as was the intensity in which they train. I am looking forward to getting started and helping Basingstoke win games.”
Gerrard is expected to be in the squad for the Evo-Stik Southern League sides FA Trophy fixture on Saturday.

Manager confirmed?

There has been plenty of rumour and speculation surround Reading City since the departure of co-manager Andy Findlay, star striker Parker and now Gerrard, but Football in Bracknell understands Rob Creech will remain in sole charge and is recruiting an assistant.
Thursday’s Reading Chronicle reported that City were in disarray following the departures of Findlay and Cooper, and linked recently departed Wantage Town manager Ben Sadler with the role.
