Binfield announced a raft of re-signings on Wednesday night and one impressive new signature in the shape of FA Vase winner Jemel Johnson.
Johnson was a key part of the Thatcham Town side that won the Vase last season as well as the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division but has chosen to remain at step four level and rejoin his former club Binfield.
JJ played 44 times for the Blues as they swept all before them in the national Vase competition and Premier Division having originally switched to the West Berkshire club from Binfield at the end of the 2015/16 season when he’d scored 15 goals for the Moles.
The joys of being a non league footballer – Wembley cup final winner Sunday afternoon, Private Banker again Monday morning! Few hours sleep, a sore head but still smiling 🙂 People will regret asking me how my weekend was today 😂 pic.twitter.com/r5erBjPTfg

Writing on twitter, Johnson said very simply of his return to Binfield: “It’s good to be back!”
The midfielder is one of a number of players who have headed East from Thatcham this summer with former team mates Josh Helmore and Liam Ferdinand heading to Bracknell Town and their Bostik League campaign.
As well as Johnson’s return, Binfield have confirmed a number of key returning players including captain James Knight, top scorer Ian Davies and the ‘unplayable at times’ Sean Moore. For more on what’s happening at Thatcham – the Newbury Weekly News’ Liam Headd has an update here.
