Relegation threatened Binfield FC are out of the Isthmian League South Central Division One relegation zone for the first time since the third game of the season.
Ross Weatherstone’s side thumped Northwood 6-3 at Hill Farm Lane on Thursday night, winning their last game in hand over Chipstead to leapfrog the Surrey side and go two points ahead.
The Moles are five games unbeaten – of which four were wins – scoring 20 goals in the process.
On Thursday night, following up Tuesday’s 4-1 win over bottom side Corinthian Casuals was crucial and they did it some strike, racing to a 2-0 lead through Tyler D’Cruz and a Mitchell Parker penalty.
Northwood hit back through Kofi Anokye-Boadi and then had a penalty chalked off for hand ball.
After that the Moles raced away with D’Cruz scoring again and Connor Holland making it 4-1. Tone Glenn Kusel-Gabriel then made it 5-1 before Northwood hit back with Anokye-Boadi completing his hat trick.
Ethan Lindo had other ideas though for Binfield easing any nerves with an injury time sixth.
The maths for staying up are now simple, match Chipstead’s results. The Moles play Raynes Park Vale and Uxbridge to finish the season while Chips face Thatcham Town and Southall.
Across Berkshire, Tadley Calleva are in the play-offs in the Combined Counties League Premier Division South after beating Fleet Town 4-0 while Reading City did the same after beating Egham Town 2-1 in the North division.
