The man wrote his own headline on Tuesday night as Wokingham & Emmbrook shared a point with Wallingford & Crowmarsh in a 1-1 draw at Lowther Road.

Sumas goalscorer Jake White tweeted: ‘9 months out injured, 5 minutes back into competitive action this happened’ after scoring Wokingham’s equaliser.

The night started brightly for visitors Wallingford who were missing top-scorer Riccardo Benjamin through injury, Kyreece Martei giving the Oxfordshire side a second-minute lead on their return to Step 5.

A 250-strong crowd watched on as Eliot Whitehouse’s side looked for a leveller which dually came from substitute White on 59 minutes and there was a nervy final few minutes at both ends, Jack Webb going close for Wokingham while the visitors had a chance almost immediately after to win it themselves.

In the end, the draw was a fair result with our Twitter reporter on the night Neil Maskell saying: “Congratulations to both sides on a fine game of Combined Counties League football.”
