It wasn’t to be for Binfield on Saturday afternoon at Hill Farm Lane.

The Moles huffed and puffed at home to Northwood in the Isthmian League South Central Division One but could find a way past Daniel Hosier as the visitors won 1-0 thanks to a 53rd minute Micah Jackson penalty.

Harvey Rackley-Hayes had kept his place in goal but he was sent the wrong way by the penalty in a game that only really came to life in the final 10 minutes when substitute Aaron Petch was sent off – we can only assume for violent conduct despite not actually being on the field of play.

The incident happened as Ollie Harris remonstrated with a Northwood player on the ground, with Petch running on to the field to confront the Binfield winger. Tempers flared and Petch was dismissed as the Moles attempted to use the adrenaline boost to their advantage.

Chances fell, with sub Callum Bunting having the best chance but couldn’t quite reach the outstanding Elliott Legg’s cross with a diving header.

A disappointing result for the Moles then who’d beaten Northwood 3-0 in the reverse fixture.

Bracknell Town

For Bracknell Town, it was a superb return to his former club for Michael Eacott as he saw his side run riot with a 7-1 win at Sutton Common Rovers.

Dave Tarpey sent the Robins on their way after five minutes and there were doubles for Seb Bowerman and new signing Zidan Akers while Anthony Cheshire and captain Max Herbert also got on the scoresheet.

Rovers did grab a consolation at 5-0 with Connor French converting a penalty but the game was well and truly out of sight.

Thatcham Town

The Kingfishers 1-0 defeat at home to Tooting & Mitcham United elicited an apology from manager Jamie Leacock to his club’s supporters for a lack of intensity from his side.

The only goal of the game came on 45 minutes with Tooting’s Dan Williams scoring from the penalty spot.
