Berks County took advantage of a Westwood Wanderers defeat and increased their already impressive goal difference to go to the top of the Thames Valley Premier League on Saturday.

Westwood fell to Wraysbury who picked up their fourth win of the season but there remains only 11 points between bottom of the table Woodley United Royals and fifth placed Newbury in a very tight division.

In Division One, only one game went ahead with Hurst making the most of their games in hand to climb to third with a 3-0 win at Cookham Dean Reserves.

Thames Valley Premier League

Wraysbury Village 3 Westwood Wanderers 2

Westwood began the day at the top of the division, but a shock win by the home side saw Westwood drop into second by the end of play. A brace from
George Dewhurst and a goal from Darren Kuti handed all three points to Wraysbury who secured only their fourth league win of the season.

Finchampstead 2 Mortimer 2

It took a late equaliser for Finch to salvage a point from Saturday’s home game against Mortimer. Carl Self and Jake Tucker scored for the Villagers, with the home side’s goals coming from Thomas Symms and James Payne.

Woodley United Royals 0 Berks County 7

Westwood Wanderers slipping up gave Berks County a chance to hit the top of the table and the Swords took full advantage at Woodley. County led 3-0 at half-time and added four more to inflict a heavy defeat onto Woodley United Royals.

Windlesham United 3 Cookham Dean 4

Windlesham celebrated the opening of their new sports hub on Saturday, however their team went down to the odd goal in seven against Cookham Dean.

Sam Lockley with two and Dean Roberts scored goals for the home side. Cookham Dean’s goals were scored by Alex Gibson (2), Codie Summer and John Walters.

The win sees Cookham Dean move off bottom spot at the expense of Woodley United Royals.

Woodcote 5 Maidenhead Town 2

A bit of a surprise result at Woodcote as Maidenhead Town lost by 5 goals to 2. Tom Brownlow, Jake Dillon, Tommy Chapman and Justin Trow found the net for Woodcote.
