A night that didn’t quite go to plan for Binfield on Tuesday night in the only Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division tie of the night.

The Moles were 3-0 down to Abingdon United at half time without really ever threatening the opposition goal at Northcourt Road.

There was one chance in the second half for the Binfield – who started new signing Damien Smith for the first time and gave a second start to young goalkeeper Sonny Wheeler – following good build up play but the resulting header sailed over the bar.

The introduction of Josh Howell and Eddie Lee from the bench certainly made a difference but it was 4-0 before either could really get a grip on the game.

Manager Roger Herridge called it ‘a horrid result’ in an interview with Football in Bracknell here, saying his side were playing with a lack of confidence.

Floodlit Cup

A much better result for Holyport though as they beat Hellenic League Division 1 East title challengers Burnham 2-1 to progress to the Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup Third Round.

Steven Deverall and Dan Rapley got the goals for Derek Sweetman’s side as they sprung a little bit of a surprise at the Gore. Port will now play Thame Rangers in the next round. The full draw is here.

News of Bracknell Town’s terrific Ash Artwell inspired Velocity Trophy win as well as the semi final draw is here while elsewhere Chalvey Sports overcame Chinnor 4-2 to win the final group game of the Subsidiary Cup and Virginia Water were beaten 2-0 in the Reading Senior Cup by Wallingford Town. The Quarter Final draw is here.

All Tuesday nights full time scores are here.
