Bracknell Town centre back Joe Gater had quite the afternoon in Saturday’s 3-1 Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division win over Royal Wootton Bassett Town at Larges Lane.

In an eventful first half, Gater conceded a penalty after he was adjudged to have handled to give the visitors a 1-0 lead and then scored the Robins 100th league goal of the season.

Prior to that Joe Grant had levelled things up and substitute TJ Bohane made it safe in the second half.

It was a slightly shuffled pack for Bracknell who were without Carl Davies so captain Dave Hancock slotted in at centre back and impressive youngster Elliott Legg taking the right back role.

Elsewhere Ascot United’s first home game since the 9th January saw them ease their relegation fears with a 4-3 win over Lydney Town.

The Yellamen lead 3-2 at half time and had a nervy final 15 after the visitors made it 4-3 but goals from George Lock, Samir Regragui, Jonny Denton and Robert Lazarczuk ensured the daylight between Ascot and the bottom four increased.

And over in West Berkshire it was goal number 50 for Shane Cooper-Clark who scored four including a hat trick of penalties in Thatcham Town’s 8-1 win over Longlevens.

Cooper-Clark, Ekow Elliott and Liam Ferdinand all scored before half time with three more for Cooper-Clark, one more for Ferdinand and one for Curtis Angell in the second.

The match was interrupted though in amusing fashion by a couple of interlopers, as the saying goes with all the rain postponements ‘nice weather for ducks’. Well it certainly was at Waterside Park.
