Josh Drew strike strengthens Woodley United’s top two claim in derby victory over Finchampstead

Woodley United are four points away from confirming a guaranteed second place finish in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East after a hard fought 1-0 derby win at home to Finchampstead last night.

Substitute Josh Drew – only on the pitch for five minutes – struck the solitary goal in the 65th minute.

United who have three games remaining are nine points clear of third placed Headington Amateurs who have four matches remaining and there’s still an outside chance of catching leaders Penn & Tylers Green but it would require P&T to only pick up two points in their final two matches.

Apologies for the lack of updates last night or a preview of this match. We’ve been a bit pre-occupied with the upcoming Premier Division finish and the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Trophy and Intermediate Cup finals not forgetting TC’s stag this coming weekend. Duds
