A rare midweek fixture for Finchampstead saw them on the road to Shrivenham in Wiltshire, and it was a trip worth making as they advanced to the third round of the Hellenic League Supplementary Cup with a 1-0 win at Barrington Park.

Hellenic League Division 1 East Finch were given a bye to the second round and overcame their Division 1 West opponents courtesy of a thumping strike from centre back Hamilton Bowler following a corner.

Jon Laugharne’s (pictured) side look well set to finish in the top five with just three games of the season remaining and will face Premier Division strugglers Oxford City Nomads in the third round after they beat Clanfield 85 4-1 on Tuesday.

Finch will be in action again when they visit Didcot Town Reserves on Tuesday night for a league match.
