Bracknell Town boss Geoff Warner picked out centre-back Matt Day as his star man in the Robins 3-0 win at Chipstead at the weekend.

Speaking to the Bracknell News’ Dave Wright, Warner said: “It was a really pleasing performance, there wasn’t anyone who was below par.

“If I had to pick one player out it would be Matty Day. He was outstanding and I would say it was his best game for us.”

Day returned to the starting line up three games ago after time on the sidelines with injury. The return coincided with a return to form for Bracknell following their 7-2 defeat at Ware.

The Robins have won all three games since with Day starting each one.

Also in this weeks News, available now in all good newsagents, Wokingham & Emmbrook manager Dan Bateman called Elliott Rushforth’s winner against Chinnor ‘a moment of quality’.

Bateman said: “Sometimes when a game is a bit scrappy it takes a moment of quality to win it and that’s what we got from Elliott.”

Over in the Wokingham Paper, Binfield manager Roger Herridge spoke about protecting impressive young forward Eddie Lee.

The youngster had played for Binfield on Saturday and then 90 minutes for the Berks & Bucks County side on Sunday, with the Moles in action again on Monday night against Ascot United.

Herridge said: “You have a duty of care there. There’s no way in this world I could’ve played Eddie Lee last night [Monday] in a game I would’ve wanted him to play in.

“Aaron Steadman from Ascot, who I’ve got an awful lot of time for, manages the County side and in hindsight I should’ve possibly said I only want Eddie to have 45 minutes on Sunday.”
