Lola Pollard is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Referee of the Season sponsored by Fox Beer House (Caversham).
A young referee, Lola has officiated Maidenhead United fixtures this season in the Women’s National League and has been highly praised for her ‘quiet authority’.
The nomination we received for the award said: “Having played recreationally locally as a goalkeeper, Lola Pollard has recently focussed on her refereeing and has stepped into officiating in the middle of hard-fought FA Women’s National League fixtures. The youngster has handled these high-pressure, fast moving matches with typical calmness and maturity. She manages to control matches with a quiet authority, living up to the old adage that the best referees are the ones that you do not notice.
“Whilst also continuing her passion for playing football at University, keen Reading FC supporter Lola has made a real impression in the way she has handled the pressure of refereeing key football matches.”
