The First Round of the 2024/25 men’s Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Cup boasted goals – 56 no less across 11 games including one fixture that finished 11-1.
Now Berks County’s big defeat of Langley wasn’t quite as bizarre as Tadley Calleva’s 14-0 at Farnborough in the Hampshire Cup, but the Swords – who have endured a tough start to life at Step 5 – advance with Luke Hayward scoring a six minute hat-trick on Wednesday night.
Elsewhere Wokingham Town lost a fiery encounter with Windsor & Eton at Lowther Road 3-1. A clash of two famous Berkshire football names back in the limelight saw the Royalists take an early lead after a mistake in defence allowed Ashley Howes to lob goalkeeper Emilio Fantocchio.
But Wokingham arguably had the upper hand after that and the chances followed, but it took until the 79th minutes for Kasper Hok to equalise.
At that point though, things got a little out of hand with a heated moment in the Sumas goalmouth, while Denis Haxhiu saw red for an incident at the far end of the pitch after Adam Crocker had put Windsor back in the lead.
Sean McDonnell then wrapped things up for the visitors who will now travel to Wallingford & Crowmarsh after The Wally beat Buckingham 5-1.
Other results saw Reading City go out with a 5-1 defeat at home to Milton United while Holyport continued their strong start with a 3-1 win at home to AFC Aldermaston, Windsor beat Burnham 4-2 and Sandhurst Town beat Woodley United 2-1.
