Reading FC Women lifted the Berks & Bucks County FA Senior Women’s Cup for the second time in three seasons with a penalty shootout win over MK Dons.

The Royals field an under 21 side in the County Competition and with the senior team away at Southampton in the FA Women’s Championship (Royals were beaten 5-0), it proved a busy afternoon keeping up for Reading Women fans.

Reading goalkeeper Eve Annets was the hero for Royals, pulling off a couple of saves in the shootout that was eventually won 3-1 after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Holders MK Dons were a goal up on 67 minutes and it took until the 84th minute for Tia Johnson to level things up and send the game to penalties.

Royals – who featured Freya Meadows-Tuson and Natasha Rasmussen, players dual registered with Maidenhead United – missed their opening spot kick but scored their next three Dons only managing to convert one, leading to a pile on of goalkeeper Annets on the same ground that Reading won the competition in 2022.
