Slough Town boss Scott Davies is top of this managerial tree

FA Cup heroes Slough Town are on a bit of a role at the moment in the Vanarama National League South and have one more accolade to add to the list.

The Rebels have the highest ranked player/manager in the English Men’s Football Pyramid.

That’s right! Scott Davies is doing something right now that nobody in the Football League is doing. The dying art of the player/manager is alive and well at Step 2.

Think Ruud Gullit at Chelsea, Kenny Dalgleish at Liverpool, Glenn Hoddle at Chelsea and Swindon Town among many many more.

But at the moment, at least at the top end of the pyramid there is just one, and that man is the Rebels Davies.

Of course, blazing a trail in the managerial sense is par for the course at Arbour Park, the Rebels had a managerial duo previously in Neil Baker and Jon Underwood, something that is certainly a lot more common down the pyramid now than it used to be.

Why do we know about this? Well the excellent Location Football channel hosted by ex Soccer AM star James Kirtland went to meet Scott. You can watch the full 11 minute video feature below:
