Ascot United’s Sarah Davern is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Player of the Season (Female) sponsored by Eddie Stobart Logistics.
Sarah played 21 times for the Yellas this season as Ascot finished runners-up to Abingdon United in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division.
One nomination for the award said: “Sarah has had a rollercoaster season, battling several injuries, from a slipped disc to nerve damage and recovery, she persevered and as captain, helped guide her team to the cup final, a game in which Sarah broke her ankle and still lead by example. Her activity in the grassroots and club game has allowed Ascot to have many mascots and to boost the youth game at the club and also in the local community. A true advocate of the game and deserves the credit!”
Another added: “Sarah has come back from a crippling injury and captained the team to a league cup win whilst also breaking her ankle in the cup final game. Props to her for getting us there.”
