If Ascot United didn’t understand the enormity of Saturday’s FA Vase Quarter Final, the news that the fixture at West Didsbury & Chorlton is now sold out will surely confirm that.

The Manchester-based club announced on their Twitter feed on Monday that they have sold all 1,300 tickets for Saturday’s fixture.

This is the first time that West Didsbury & Chorlton have reached the Quarter Finals of the FA Vase. Their best run only being to the first round. The Yellas Vase pedigree is a little better. This will be their second FA Vase Quarter Final following their 2013 loss to Shildon after a replay.

West Didsbury & Chorlton are currently eighth in the North West Counties Football League, while Ascot United lead the way in the Combined Counties Premier Division North.

FA Vase ties played at this stage of the competition are some of the best that Step 5 non-league can offer and the games are nearly always tight affairs. The support at West is always boisterous and partisan. Ascot are in for a real test up north on Saturday.

We think this could well be the largest crowd Ascot United have ever played in, eclipsing the Berks & Bucks Cup crowds of 1267 (vs Wycombe Wanderers) and 1122 (vs Reading).
