Yateley United is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Match Day Experience sponsored by Rural Pie Co.

The Combined Counties League Division One side have been nominated by several supporters in the category, with the club turning their Sean Devereux Park home into a popular one for groundhoppers and visiting supports.

The nomination we received for the award said: “Yateley United FC stands as a shining example of what step 6 grassroots football can and should be, delivering a match day experience that consistently exceeds expectations for a club at that level with limited resources.

“From the moment supporters arrive, it is clear that the club takes immense pride in its facilities. The ground is exceptionally well-maintained, with infrastructure that rivals clubs at a much higher level of the football pyramid. The pitches, in particular, are of outstanding quality, immaculately prepared, visually impressive, and conducive to an excellent standard of play. This attention to detail not only enhances the performance on the field but also elevates the experience for spectators.

“Beyond the physical environment, what truly sets Yateley United apart is its atmosphere. There is a genuine community feel, warmth and friendliness that runs throughout the club. Supporters, players, volunteers, and staff all contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued. Whether you are a fan, a visiting supporter, or attending for the first time, the sense of community is immediate and lasting.

“Match days are run smoothly and professionally, reflecting the dedication and hard work of those behind the scenes. The club’s volunteers deserve particular recognition for their commitment, ensuring that every detail is handled with care and enthusiasm.

“The the strong family spirit that the club actively nurtures. Match days are more than just football they are community occasions where families come together and young players feel inspired and included. The club goes above and beyond to create a memorable experience for its youth teams and junior members, giving them the opportunity to feel part of something bigger.

“The club’s engagement with its local community is equally impressive. Yateley United serves as a hub where friendships are formed, and community ties are strengthened. It is clear that the club is not just representing the town on the pitch, but actively contributing to its social fabric off it.

“In an era where football can sometimes lose sight of its roots, Yateley United FC embodies the spirit of the game at its best: accessible, community-driven, and passionately delivered. The combination of superb facilities, top-quality pitches, and a genuinely lovely atmosphere makes it a standout candidate for Best Match Day Experience.”

The sort of details we love to see include things like player awards, goals, clean sheets and any other significant contributions to the footballing community – obviously within the 2025/26 season.

We’ll publish all the nominees for the Berkshire Football Awards as we receive them.

You can view all the 2025 nominees so far here.6

We will accept nominations for people out of area, the only prerequisite is that the reason for nomination is that it must be because of an affiliation with a club we cover on Football in Berkshire (a full list is at the bottom of this page). We will present certificates and a trophy to the winners.

  • All nominations are done by you, the Berkshire footballing public
  • You can nominate as many people as you like for each award – the quantity of nominations counts for the judging panel..
  • That said, quality is just as important, the more detail you provide about why you are nominating, the better
  • Please try and avoid nominating your own family members
  • Due to difficulties in obtaining permissions under child protection laws we won’t consider any player under the age of 16 for nomination in any of the categories
