Tuesday’s nights delayed Isuzu FA Trophy First Qualifying Round ties yielded success on two fronts for Berkshire sides Binfield and Thatcham Town.

The Kingfishers had the longer away day of the two in Gloucestershire at Cinderford Town but came away with a 1-0 win courtesy of Ashley Howell’s first-minute goal, his first goal of 2022/23 and Thatcham’s first win.

Yashwa Romeo’s side could have had a couple more on the night but the Kingfisher’s boss will undoubtedly just be pleased to be into the next round where they will face AFC Dunstable at home.

For Binfield it was just another day at the office as their good start to the season continued with a 4-0 win at Marlow. The Moles have conceded one goal this season – something that earned goalkeeper Chris Grace a league award in August – and that robust defence continued while the forwards continued to do their thing.

New-signing signing Johnny Efedje got the ball rolling after 25 minutes while Jonathan Denton got the second just before the break. If Marlow fancied getting themselves back into things in the second half, those thoughts were relatively short-lived as Sean Moore fired in on 59 minutes and Brandon Curtis struck from 20 yards on 77.

The Moles will now face Thame United away after they beat Westbury United 2-0. The full FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round draw is here.
