Windsor FC have announced the return of former Fulham striker Barry Hayles to the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division North side.
As it stands, the former England C and Jamaican international’s role will be as part of Mick Woodham’s new management team but a social media post by the club didn’t rule out a playing return for the now 50-year-old.
The announcement of Hayles return said: “YES!!! The man, the legend, Sir Barrington of Hayles is back!! Barry Hayles has agreed to return as part of Mick Woodham’s backroom staff for the new season. Negotiations are still on going as to whether he will pull a kit on again!!”
Hayles made over 150 appearances for Fulham but also turned out for the likes of Bristol Rovers, Leicester City and Millwall during a career in the Football League as well as a non-league career that took in Chesham United, Truro City and St Albans City.
Hayles made 59 appearances scoring 18 times during his two-year spell with the Royalists between 2017 and 2019, a period that coincided with the re-formed Berkshire sides best ever performances in the FA Vase, reaching the Quarter Finals in 17/18 and Fifth Round in 18/19.
In April 2020. we spoke to Barry on the Football in Berkshire podcast. You can listen here or below:
