Reading City have been nominated for a Berkshire Football Award in the ManVFat Best Community Campaign or Content category.
I know I’m going to get a bit of stick for this one for sure, but it’s something that needs acknowledging for the sheer effort and brilliance that went into what Reading City did with what started out as a joke and has undoubtedly annoyed a lot of away fans headed to Reading FC.
So, back in November, the excellent Twitter account @footyscran shared a photo of a Chinese Selection Box that was available at Reading City FC. It was retweeted 198 times, quote tweeted 296 times and liked 5,254 times on the social media platform.
The only problem was, it didn’t exist.

But then enterprising Cityzens chairman Martin Law ensured it did and its been a roaring success for the club. We’ve chronicled the story here, and we’ve even sent our own Neil Maskell to review it.
It was a viral sensation, it ended up on The Sun and it was very very funny. So we’re classing it as a campaign.
Do you think Reading City’s Chinese Selection Box is a worthy winner, or have you got other campaigns to tell us about? Scroll down to fill out the nomination form for the ManVFat Player of the Season (Female) award.
