Pitching In Isthmian League South Central Division One leaders Bracknell Town have the meanest defence across the top four levels of the Non-League Football Pyramid.
Following the weekends round of fixtures, the Robins edged ahead of league and cross-county rivals Marlow after scoring three times against the Buckinghamshire side with one goal in reply.
Prior to Saturday, Bracknell and Marlow both held the honour of having the toughest defence to break down this season based on league fixture, but now the Robins are top of the table on their own after the league win.
Duncan Culley had a mixed afternoon for Bracknell but it was he who did the damage, coming on a substitute he scored twice and was then sent-off as Bracknell beat Marlow 3-1.
The excellent @nonleaguecrowd Twitter account has compiled the table of fewest league goals conceded between steps 1 to 4 of the English Football Pyramid with Bracknell on nine ahead of established Vanarama National League sides like Boreham Wood, Brackley Town, Chesterfield and Kidderminster Harriers.
The full list is as follows:
Bracknell’s centre-back partnership of Dan Bayliss and Temi Eweka have been key to the Robins regular shut-outs and have had to cope with enforced goalkeeper changes due to injury with Bracknell forced to use five different men between the sticks so far this season.
More impressive than that though is that the duo have actually scored more league goals this season between them than they have conceded.
Eweka has five including two in one game against Ashford Town (Middlesex) while Bayliss has seven to his name. Both have been on the scoresheet in the same game three times and between them were responsible for the 2-1 win at home to Basingstoke Town with a goal each.
