The local football community of Bracknell was shocked this week with the news of the passing of League Committee stalwart, Mick White.

Many people have been influenced in some way by the likeable, long-standing Committee member, more recently as Assistant Secretary and Assistant Referees Secretary.  League Secretary Tony Hardy said, “Not only have we lost an important part of this League and father-figure to some but we’ve lost a good friend too.  Since taking on the roles of both Fixtures Secretary and General Secretary Mick has been a huge help and support to me and he’ll be sadly missed”.

Tributes have poured in for Mick from member clubs as well as those that have come to know Mick for the help and support they have received from him in football.

“Mick’s hard work and dedication to making sure we could all play football over the years won’t be forgotten”

“I know Mick dedicated a lot of time to the league and we are grateful for that!”

“Such a character, will be missed by all”

“Mick will be a great loss to the football community”

“Over many years Mick has been so dedicated to the League and his hard work and effort will be missed”

“Mick was another one of the good ones.  Always had time for people and always talked sense”

Football in Berkshire, along with the Bracknell & District Sunday League’s Management Committee and its member clubs, send their sincerest condolences to Mick’s family at this sad time.
