Carl Davies was confirmed as a Bracknell Town player once again on Wednesday night after starting for the Robins in the 4-0 Velocity Trophy victory at FC Romania.
The centre back and former player/manager joined from neighbours Binfield earlier in the week and played 90 minutes as the Robins won courtesy of a Charlie Losasso double and strikes from Seb Bowerman and Ousman Darboe.
On his new signing, Bracknell manager Sam Lock said: “Carl is a player I would of liked to of kept coming in to pre season but unfortunately he just couldn’t commit at the time. I heard through the grapevine that this may of now changed and gave Rog [Herridge] a call to see if I could have a chat with Carl. Carl is Bracknell at heart and I’m delighted he made the decision to come back.”
Davies made six appearances this season for Binfield who have enjoyed a flying start to the 2019/20 Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season.
Roger Herridge
Herridge said: “I wish Carl well, it was great having him back with us albeit for a short time. I have never stood in the way of a player who has the opportunity to play at a higher level whether returning to it or making the step up for the first time.
“It’s purely a football decision on Carl’s part. In my opinion they were silly not to secure his signature in the summer, but the same could be said about a number of players from their previous seasons squad.”
The Moles boss gave an update on his own squad following Davies’ departure, saying: “As far as we are concerned we have very good options at centre back, Idris Kamara and Liam Gavin have been absolutely fantastic so far this season so we have no need to panic especially with Damian Smith and Phil Veal in the squad too.”
Bracknell face Coggeshall Town on Saturday in the FA Trophy while Binfield next host Chalvey Sports on Monday night.
