On Monday afternoon Wantage Town defeated Windsor at Stag Meadow to claim their third Hellenic League Premier Division title in the past ten years.

A solitary goal from Wantage’s top scorer Stephen Robertson was enough to see the title head to Oxfordshire (though we in Berkshire can claim some glory for the title as Wantage was in Berkshire until 1974!).

Robertson, a regular goalscorer in the Hellenic Premier over the years, who scored 24 league goals this season. Jack Dunmall scored fifteen league goals for the Alfredians with Ben Cook netting nine.

A special mention should go to Daniel Comer and Chris Jackson who played in every league fixture for Wantage Town this season.

The Alfredians had won the title in 2010/2011 and 2013/2014 and this victory will see the club promoted once again to Step 4. They will hope their stay at Step 4 level will last longer than the last three seasons where two 20th place finishes and a 21st (of 22) saw them relegated back to the Hellenic League.
