Thames Valley Premier League side Westwood Wanderers will have a new home for the 2022/23 season.
A perennial TVPL Premier Divison club, Wanderers were forced to take a demotion in 2013 due to a lack of facilities, finally making it back to the top table of step 7 football in 2017.
Now however the club have been able to secure a home back in Tilehurst at Denefield School in Long Lane.
A spokesperson for the club said to Football in Berkshire: “It’s quite a long story but the pitch where Westwood have played for decades ended up falling out of Step 7 requirements maybe 5 or 6 years ago due to changing facilities so we had to drop down a league whilst we found a ground that met the requirements.
“We had to move 40 minutes across town to Sol Joel so we could get back into the Premier Division. We then had the opportunity to move to Theale Recreation Ground at the beginning of the 2019/20 season to get back more local and have been there for the last few seasons.
“However Westwood then had the opportunity to partner up with the school on the building of the 4G pitch which is where all our age groups and teams will now train and play.”
Great news to secure our new ground for next season as we look to take the club to the next level. We are looking to add to what is already a great squad so if you’re interested in a new and exciting challenge in 22/23 then send us a DM. pic.twitter.com/9RGqYzbpxZ
