Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Division One side Sandhurst Town have been without a manager for 24 hours following the departure of Ben Nwachukwu, but they have already appointed a new managerial team.

Ian Selley and Ryan Northmore are the new men in charge, the former part of Arsenal’s 1994 European Cup Winners’ Cup Final winning team that beat Parma 1-0 while Northmore has experience playing in the Football League for Torquay United and Yeovil Town and was Director of Football at Weston-super-Mare.

The Fizzers have endured a tough start to the season, losing in the FA Cup to AFC Portchester while Saturday saw the club beaten 6-0 at home by Epsom & Ewell.

A statement confirming the appointment can be read in full here: “Ian and I have been talking for a long time about working together and have been patient to find an
opportunity to be at a club with potential. We are coming in with the intention to rebuild confidence and add some experience to what is a young squad.”

Meanwhile, the Sandhurst Town FC Chairman, Board of Directors and Statement from The Chairman at the SB Group released the following statement on social media on Sunday afternoon:

It has been an incredibly busy and tough summer. Behind the scenes we have been working incredibly hard and unfortunately, recent results have disappointed us; however, we remain very ambitious for the 2020/21 season and beyond. The phase one works of a two-phased ground redevelopment are on schedule to complete in late 2020, the financial support from The SB Group has been monumental in making this all happen. We look forward to re-opening Bottom Meadow for the Christmas fixtures in a few months. We hope the entire Sandhurst and wider Bracknell Forest Borough community will be impressed with the incredible work undertaken to make Bottom Meadow a destination for Non-League Fans.

We are excited and pleased to welcome Sophie Steinborn-Busse and Louie Steinborn-Busse to the Board at Sandhurst Town FC. Sophie will join as Vice-Chair whilst Louie will become a Director under the recent restructure.

In addition to the investment in the new stadium down at Bottom Meadow The SB Group will be stepping up their support to help get the on-field season started. Founder of the SB Group Kayne SB commented: ”A lot of people have asked why I wanted to support STFC. Firstly I played all my Junior and Youth football down at Sandhurst Town Boys & Girls Club. One of my best football memories was when our team at around U16 toured Holland. It was a great experience being hosted out in Holland by a Dutch family whilst representing the STFC Boys and Girls Club in a host of tournaments. When I graduated from the Boys and Girls club, I remember training for Sandhurst Town FC U18 on what is now their home ground Bottom Meadow back in the mid 90’s it was just a pitch minus any infrastructure.

Secondly, fast-forwarding 20 odd years to 2016 I meet up with Tony Dean Chairman at STFC when Bracknell Town FC moved down to Bottom Meadow at the start of the 2016/17 season whilst Larges Lane was undergoing a refurbishment. Since then, Tony and I have formed an incredibly close working relationship, Sandhurst Town FC has aspirations to get up the non-league pyramid, and I have the experience and resources to help underpin his ambitions.”

The FA ownership rules prohibit me from taking a hands-on board-level role down at Bottom Meadow as I am not allowed to hold multiple Chairmanships or sit on more than one football board.

It is a club we want to help and support and we want to do everything within our power to lift Sandhurst Town FC out of step 6. My wife Sophie Steinborn-Busse & Son Louie Steinborn-Busse will focus their time and energy on this project whilst I help from afar where I can within the bounds of the laws set out by the FA. In the 2021/22 Season, we will help Sandhurst Town FC launch their very own academy consistent with what you see up the road at Bracknell Town FC, and we will attract players from the local area and also from around the world.

We as a family are excited to be able to support and help Tony and Sandhurst Town FC.
