Thames Valley Premier League side Berks County have announced a groundshare agreement that will enable the club to gain promotion to step 6 this season should they meet the on the field requirements.
The Swords – who topped the table at the early end of the 2019/20 season – have revealed they will move in and share Binfield’s Hill Farm Lane ground for 2020/21 and 2021/22.
The club recently celebrated 10 years in existence and have played at a number of grounds including Bracknell Leisure Centre and the Hub at Ryeish Green, and will still use the latter for reserve team games.
Writing on the club’s website, football secretary and Football in Berkshire’s two-time Volunteer of the Year Steve Kay said: “As part of our goal to move Berks County FC forward, we’re delighted to partner with Binfield FC and play at what’s clearly one of the best non-league grounds in Berkshire. The move gives us some time to identify and develop our own facility that meets the ambition of our community club.”
Binfield chairman Bob Bacon added: “Binfield are pleased to have Berks County sharing the ground and the facility, to play competitive matches. There is a good relationship between the clubs which can only enhance football in the area.”
