Vanarama National League South Slough Town head into pre-playoff training at the weekend with manager Neil Baker reporting his squad has tested negative for Covid 19.

The Rebels are due to face Dartford in a playoff eliminator at Arbour Park on an as yet unconfirmed date – expected to be the 18th or 19th July.

Writing on Twitter on Friday morning, Slough’s co-boss said: “Great news all tested negative for COVID 19 in the first round of testing! Let’s do this.”

Meanwhile, in this weeks Maidenhead Advertiser, fellow boss Jon Underwood has said he expects the Rebels match, and subsequent fixtures will be broadcast one way or the other.

BT Sport will broadcast the National League final at Wembley Stadium as well as other playoff matches in the top division, but the Advertiser reports no decision has been made on the North and South fixtures.

Underwood said though, that if BT weren’t screening the games, plans were in place for FC Video to take over: “All the clubs are doing their own fundraising for these matches at the minute, but it would be a real boost if that happened (BT Sport coverage). Our initial thoughts though are not financial ones. We want to enable our fans to watch this game because they’re potentially missing out on what are always the biggest games of the season. I believe if the Dartford game isn’t on BT Sport there are plans in place to get FC Video to stream it on Youtube. Once we know the decision with BT then, as a club, we’ll make a decision and make that announcement. But I’m pretty sure the fans will have a way of watching the game.”
