Thames Valley Premier League Premier Division side Mortimer have parted company with manager Michael Hancock after two years, the club has confirmed on social media.

A statement posted on the clubs twitter page said: “Mortimer FC have parted company with first team manager Mike Hancock by mutual consent. We would like to thank Mike for all his hard work over the last two years, and for leading the team to a Madjeski Stadium cup final and a 4th place finish last season.”

The Village side are currently bottom of the Premier Division having picked up just one point from the opening eight games, the most recent fixture was a 1-0 defeat at home to Reading City under 23s on Saturday.

Hancock was appointed number two to Stuart Plumridge in the summer of 2016. He took over the top job in October 2017 having played 10 times for the club the previous season. He played three games last season and one so far this campaign.

The now former Villagers manager was a well regarded central defender during his playing career. He spent a season with the Moles in 2011/12 but spent most of his recent career with the now defunct Reading Town as well as a brief spell in the Southern League with Bracknell Town.

Next up for Mortimer is a tough away day at Hellenic League Division One East side Milton United in the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Trophy on Saturday 12th October.
