Dave Hancock has been named Bracknell Town captain this week in a tweet by the clubs chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse ahead of Wednesday nights Hellenic League Premier Division fixture with Brackley Town Saints.

Hancock steps full time in to the role he has held for the Robins when Carl Davies was unavailable and has considerable experience as skipper of neighbours Ascot United where he lifted the Floodlit Cup with the Yellamen. Davies was installed as player manager until the end of the current season following the departure of Jeff Lamb and Paul McGrotty.

It is Hancock’s second spell with Bracknell and he has played 72 times scoring twice since returning to Larges Lane in the summer of 2016 and last season as stand in captain for the suspended Carl Davies lifted the Reading Senior Cup, Berks & Bucks County Senior Trophy and Hellenic League Cup. Hancock was also voted player of the season at the Bracknell Football Awards.

Mr Steinborn-Busse tweeted: “Only 25 Days since our last league game. Back at it tonight in what will be Dave Hancock’s first game as official club captain. Good Luck Hanks! On paper officially the most decorated stand in captain in the clubs recent history.”

Hancock replied: “Cheers boss! An honour to captain the club I have given the majority of my football life to. 13 cup finals ahead starting tonight.”

Bracknell head to Brackley Town Saints on Wednesday night for a long awaited first league fixture for new manager Carl Davies. Stay tuned to @fibracknell on twitter for updates.
