Reading FC Women boss Kelly Chambers gave a frank assessment of her side’s upcoming FA Women’s Super League tie with Tottenham Hotspur with Royals bottom of the league with two games to play.
Reading Today’s Andy Preston reports Chambers as saying: “There’s no hiding that we need to get three points against Tottenham or we’re pretty much done.”

The Royals are two points adrift of Leicester City (who have a game in hand) and three short of Spurs in 10th and play title-chasing Chelsea in their final game of the season.
It’s easy to look at one point from the back-to-back games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Leicester as the reason for Reading’s current predicament but the Royals inability to start games well is arguably what has come back to bite them.
Several times this season Reading have been behind early (3-0 down after half an hour to West Ham United, 2-0 down to Everton in a similar time frame) only to show supreme resolve before ultimately coming up short.
Align that with the division’s second worse defensive record and it’s a recipe for sliding down the table.
Chambers added: “We’ve got two weeks to prepare. The players took accountability for their performance (against Villa) and that they need to deliver when it comes to a game day.
“It’s alright saying it then, but we’re all in it together. It’s a case of knowing what we need to do going forward to be at our peak come the Tottenham game.”
