Berks County top the Cherry Red Record Combined Counties League Division One table after seven games and have moved to add a proven Step 6 goalscorer to their line up.
Charlie Oakley, a promotion winner with Woodley United in 2017, has joined the Swords push for promotion this season from Premier Division South Farnham Town.
A delighted Berks County co-manager Ellis Woods said: “Charlie is obviously a great signing for us. He’s fit in really well with the group and settled in to our style of play nicely. His character fits perfectly to what we’ve tried to add to the group over the summer.
“He’s playing with a smile on his face and it looks like he’s enjoying his football, along with the rest of the squad. That’s really what the focus should be on, our squad has developed over the summer, the old guard have come into this season feeling fresh and the new lads have come in and made an impact.”
Woods adds: “We can sit here and chat about individual players and their impact on this squad, but the group’s attitude and application is what’s been the most enjoyable part of the season so far.
“We’re in a tough division where, literally, every team can punish you. We need to continue to take every game as it comes and enjoy it!”
Oakley has already made an impact on the pitch in his first two games, scoring once on his debut against CB Hounslow United and twice in the 3-0 Bank Holiday Monday win over Eversley & California.
