Bracknell Town winger Joe Grant believed he’d left some boots at Larges Lane when he was called to the club on a non training day last week.

Grant, previously with Ascot United before earning promotion to the Bostik League last season is on the contingency list for an FA England trip to the Falkland Islands where an ambassadorial match will be played.

Grant said: “I’m absolutely over the moon, when Carl called me down the club on Wednesday I never expected anything like this to come up. Just to be considered to represent your country at any level is an honour!”

Bracknell team mate Liam Ferdinand – part of the 16 man squad suggested Grant thought he had left boots at the club following training. Grant said of getting the call to head to the ground: “I literally couldn’t think of what I could be getting dragged down to the club on a Wednesday evening and knowing my luck I thought it would be something like ‘you’ve left your boots down here, come get them’.”

Regarding being on the contingency list, Grant added: “I’ve heard nothing just yet regarding whether I will be on the plane or not, although it did say the contingency players will be highly likely to travel, so fingers crossed.”

The England squad will be managed by former Barnet and Stevenage Borough manager Paul Fairclough and the match will take place between Wednesday 7th November and Tuesday 13th November.
