As you’ll know by now Saturday is the final day of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division season – a day that will end with either Bracknell Town or Thame United as the 2016/17 champions.
In order for that to happen though, Bracknell must match Thame’s result on Saturday when they face Highworth Town – but even a win might not be enough if United manage a big score at Oxfordshire neighbours and the division’s bottom side Henley Town.
Bracknell though have a man on the inside at Henley’s Triangle Ground looking to ensure the Red Kites pick up a win that might just earn them a second season at step 5 and at the very least put in a performance that would ensure the title was delivered to Berkshire.
That man is first team coach Andy Findlay, a former Robin who played under Steve McClurg at Larges Lane in the late 80’s.
We caught up with Andy ahead of what will be an intense Saturday afternoon about his time at Bracknell.

He said: “I had some good days at the Lane. I played I think for three seasons. I played for Reading FC reserves for three seasons, was released and moved initially to Wokingham Town but moved very quickly to Bracknell under Steve McClurg. I’m sure Mark Tallentire played at about the same time however he was a much better player than me.
Andy came in to Henley this season, inheriting a struggling squad albeit one that lifted the Reading Senior Cup last season.
“My mate Rob Creech got the Henley job and now we are looking to rebuild Henley next season, lots to do but confident we can make an improvement.” he said.

Speaking ahead of the game on twitter, Findlay posted: “Lots of focus on Bracknell Town and Thame United’s needs on Saturday. We wish both well but we have our own need for three points.”
If Bracknell do win, it will require at least an eight goal win for Thame to lift the title – something that did happen to Henley last weekend when they lost 9-0 at Binfield, but Findlay remained up beat – particularly with a win giving the Red Kites a real chance of staying up.
Findlay simply said: “We may have to park a bus or two and play on the break!”
