As if topping the Vanarama National League South with Maidenhead United wasn’t enough, former Bracknell Town winger Sam Barratt has his sights set firmly on a professional football career according to a new interview with the Berks & Bucks County FA website.

The interview, which covers how Sam started in football with Woodley Zebras and broke into the Bracknell Town first team at the age of 16 before signing for Maidenhead United in three seasons ago.

Sam – who was on trial with Bristol Rovers in the summer – said when asked for his advice to youngsters playing grassroots football: “The most important thing for any kid is to be playing games, I cant even explain how much 90 odd games playing for Bracknell did. It took my game up so many levels.”

Barratt also name-checked current Bracknell Town assistant Steve Nebbett saying: “This thought process [progressing to the professional game] was really encouraged by my manager at the time (Nebbett) and all the others based in the club [Bracknell].
