Berkshire Sunday League side Caversham United have laid down an audacious challenge to former Premier League manager Neil Warnock who appeared to signal his retirement on social media.

Warnock, famously a marmite character in the stands but – we suspect – actually quite a nice fella to have a pint with, tweeted:

Now however Reading & District Sunday League side Caversham United have appealed to Warnock’s apparent desire to manage Reading – or at least in Reading..

Most recently boss at Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen, Warnock has managed over 1,600 games at the likes of Sheffield United, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Notts County.

Having recently brought former Reading FC legend and striker Dave Kitson out of retirement – and scoring goals again, you wouldn’t put it past the Berkshire social media sensations to pull this one off.

The Dave Kitson Academy is now taking bookings for one to one coaching with the Reading legend. Head to davekitsonacademy.com to find out more.
