The Caversham Cup welcomes teams from across the UK this weekend

The tournament in Burghfield is raising money for Balls to Cancer

On Saturday 20th July, football clubs from around the country will descend on Burghfield on the outskirts of Reading for a football tournament in aid of registered charity Balls To Cancer.

Hosted by Reading & District Sunday League side Caversham United, the tournament will welcome teams from as far afield as Essex, Telford and Wolverhampton.

As well as the tournament, there are some not insignificant raffle prizes on offer as the Billy Goats aim to raise £1,000 for the charity. Prizes on offer include:

  • Signed Bayer Leverkusen home shirt
  • Signed FC St Pauli shirt
  • Signed Hashtag United shirt 
  • Cork City home shirt
  • Bulawayo Chiefs home AND away shirts
  • Signed Salford City training shirt of manager Chris Lucketti

How to enter the raffle

Anyone can enter the raffle by visiting the clubs JustGiving page here and making a £5 donation per entry. The club say the raffle draw will take place on Saturday at 1.45pm during the tournament, and will be streamed live on the clubs twitter page @cavershamunited

United have caused a bit of a social media sensation over this last season engaging with clubs around the world including the English facing accounts of AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen.

The tournament, which will include Hashtag United’s Sunday side London City as well as Berkshire clubs Calcot FC, Reading United and Hurst FC kicks off at Burghfield CSA in Reading on Saturday.
