Jordan Blake is up for a Berkshire Football Award in the category of Manager of the Season (Men’s Game).
The Woodley United men’s team manager has just completed his fourth season in charge of the Kestrels and has taken his side from a ‘Great Escape’ on the final day of the Combined Counties League season last year, to a play-off place this time around – while lending a hand to the women’s team when they were without a manager.
The nomination we received for the award said: “Twelve months ago, Woodley United spent almost the entire season bottom of the league. Only to survive relegation on the final day.
“This season, they started the season going 18 games unbeaten and have finished in their highest position for 10 years – securing a place in the playoffs.
“That turnaround doesn’t happen by accident. Jordan has built something real at Woodley Utd – tested in the hardest possible circumstances last season, and rewarded for all his hard work and commitment this one.
“Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, this is a phenomenal achievement – and exactly why Jordan deserves to be Manager of the Season.”
