Ascot United youngster Darcy Mitchell is facing a hefty bill for knee reconstruction surgery after a horror injury.
The under 18s Yella tore her ACL, MCL and Meniscus having previously torn her left ACL at the age of 12.
Mitchell setup her own fundraising page in the hope of raising enough funds to go private – it is currently and 18 month wait on the NHS which means, as Darcy says: “Most likely having to give up my hairdressing apprenticeship as well as sports due to the knee deteriorating over time.”
Darcy writes: “I have been advised by a specialist that ideally my surgery needs to be done as soon as possible in order for me to be able to return to any form of physical activity again.
“My knee is structurally very unstable and over time will become unrepairable if it is left torn for too long.”
Darcy’s page has a £6,500 target and is now 83% toward the total thanks in no small part to members of the Yellas and her own team mates.
If you are able to contribute to Darcy’s fund, you can find it on GoFundMe here.
