Vanarama National League South Slough Town have confirmed striker Mickel Platt is heading for warmer climes.

Writing in the Slough Town website, manager Scott Davies said: “It’s come as a surprise, but Mickel has decided to move on and join Hume City in the National Premier Leagues Victoria in Australia. He will be flying out on 6th January 2024 and will sign a professional contract.

“I’m delighted and disappointed at the same time. Delighted that Mickel is excited with the move, going and playing in another country and playing full time, but also extremely disappointed in the fact that he’s leaving us just as he was getting started. He’s a great lad and one that we will certainly miss having around the squad, but I’m genuinely pleased that he’s going to fulfil a dream of his by playing abroad.”

Davies was quick to confirm Platt would be available for the Rebels through December.

London born Platt’s (23) senior career began with QPR under 21s before a move to Hartley Wintney. From there he joined Bracknell Town before switching to Slough in the summer.

Hume City, based in a suburb of Melbourne in the state of Victoria, are in the National Premier League – Victoria, one of eight regional division’s in the second tier of Australian football.
