Reading FC Women will retain the services of three familiar faces for the 2022/23 FA Women’s Super League (FA WSL).
Deanna Cooper, Lily Woodham and Tia Primmer have all signed contract extensions keeping them at Reading FC Women – the former two for a further two years while Primmer has signed her first senior contract.
Announcing the news on the Reading FC website, a statement said: “Following the recent announcement this week that Brooke Chaplen will be become the new General Manager of the club, after recently retiring from professional football, the club are pleased to extend deals for three current players.”
Cooper – the most experienced of the trio – initially joined from Chelsea in 2020 with manager Kelly Chambers saying at the time: “Bringing in the likes of Deanna, she’s come from a top club and the experience of playing at the highest level can help us.”
Youngster Woodham made 26 appearances for the Royals last season having joined as an 18-year-old from Bristol City in 2018 and has become a key player in Chambers side.
The third member of the trio is the headline-grabbing Tia Primmer who burst on to the scene scoring two winning goals in quick succession from the substitutes bench last year in the FA Cup and in the FA WSL fixture with Brighton.
Primmer said: “Seeing the likes of Lily, Emma [Harries] and Bethan [Roberts], come through the academy it of course gives you belief that you can follow in their footsteps.
“Now it’s time to work even harder to cement my place in this team, improve on my numbers, and help the team push on.”
