Reading City draw Oxford United in FA Youth Cup Second Round

The Cityzens face a rematch with Oxford United

‘It was inevitable’. The words used on the @JMAReadingFC Twitter account as Reading City under 18s were drawn at home to Oxford United in the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup last week.

City beat Gosport Borough 1-0 on Wednesday night and will face the team that knocked them out in the First Round of the 2019/20 competition.

Jenyo Balogun scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to send Reading through – the furthest the club have gone in the competition.

Manager Michael Butcher, also Player/Assistant Manager of the clubs senior side, said: “A nice reward for the boys efforts so far. No expectation other than just enjoying the the opportunity to play a strong professional academy side in our own back yard.”
