One of the surprise moves of the summer saw Slough Town striker Dan Roberts make the switch to the Rebels Vanarama National League South rivals Dartford.

Roberts had joined Slough after a breakthrough season with Windsor in 2018/19 and went on to star for Slough, signing permanently in the summer of 2019. A statement from Slough in May said: “Dan Roberts has today left Slough Town, having been offered a good opportunity with another club in our league who are looking to announce this next week.”

Since the move, Football in Berkshire has been tracking the progress of Roberts since his move (in football terms) from Berkshire to Kent.

Roberts has impressed in all of the Darts seven pre-season games so far and has scored in three, against Carshalton Athletic, Sutton United and Southend United at the weekend.

FiB’s regular Darts watcher Tony Hardy said: “The young striker, previously with Bracknell Town, Windsor and Slough Town has quickly won the hearts and minds of the Darts fans with his energetic performances, though competition for a starting position up front will be hotly contested with Ade Azeez and George Porter, both with Football League experience, as well as Jake Robinson, a prolific goal-scorer in the National League South.

“Roberts will have the chance to feature against his former club Slough as they’re the visitors to Princes Park in week 2 of the NLS season.”
