There’s plenty of midweek options for East Berks football fans starting with a mouthwatering top of the table Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division clash tonight.
Second placed Binfield always get good Monday night crowds at Hill Farm Lane and the fact that the opposition Thatcham Town are another local side who also top the table should mean that plenty of punters – ourselves included – will be in attendance. The Moles led the pack for a while but the Kingfishers 3-2 victory at Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday saw them move top with Binfield in FA Vase action knocking out Buckingham Athletic by the same score.
One good omen for Roger Herridge’s side is that they have already played two Monday night matches at home and are yet to concede a goal.
They beat basement side Burnham 4-0 on the opening night of the season whilst last week’s 3-0 victory over Highmoor Ibis was a far more impressive result.
Both sides also have in-form strikers with Liam Ferdinand having eleven goals already this term whilst Thatcham’s Shane Cooper-Clark is currently one better with twelve goals.
After losing to Bracknell on bank holiday weekend, the Kingfishers have responded fantastically well beating Brackley Town Saints 6-0 and Longlevens 5-2 before this past weekend’s win at Brimscombe.
It promises to be a cracker tonight and the football does not stop there as Ascot United host bottom side Burnham at the Racecourse Ground tomorrow night with Bracknell Town also home to struggling Henley Town at their temporary Bottom Meadow ground, home of Sandhurst Town. We’ll have a preview of those two matches up tomorrow.
